Chala Mussaddi Office Office’

‘Chala Mussaddi Office Office’

One of the few successful stories to make the transition from the small screen to the big screen, “Chala Mussadi Office Office” brings Mussaddi Lal of the popular sitcom “Office Office” to life in the cinemas!

Pankaj Kapoor’s portrayal as Mussaddi Lal in “Office Office” made Mussaddi a familiar and popular character amongst television viewers. On the big screen, Mussaddi Lal continues his battle against bureaucratic corruption and red-tapism, but on a much larger scale.

The World Television Premiere of the successful comedy feature film “Chala Mussaddi Office Office” with Mussaddi Lal being victimized by the fraudulent system has a special relevance with the continuing crusade for a strong Lokpal bill.

The movie is directed by Rajeev Mehra who also directed the series, and all actors from Pankaj Kapoor, Manoj Pahwa, Deven Bhojani, Sanjay Mishra, Hemant Gupta to Asawari Joshi, revive their roles from the television show. So apart from the ever-suffering Mussaddi Lal, we have the infamous gang of five, Bhatia, Pandey ji, Shukla, Usha ji and Patel all doing their best to make a scapegoat out of Mussaddi Lal! The gang plays multiple characters, surfacing in the guise of different corrupt government functionaries with their defining mannerisms and pet phrases intact across the incarnations, as they continue to hinder Mussaddi Lal in his quest for justice.

The story by writer Ashwini Dhir (director of “Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge” and “One Two Three”) has Mussadi Lal as a retired who goes on a pilgrimage for three months after his wife's death. When he returns, he finds his pension has been stopped and the pension office has declared him dead. Then follows is his endless struggle to prove that he is alive and get his pension. As in the series, he struggles against the petty corruption in the government office where the employees are determined to fleece him till the very end.

The movie maintains the slapstick and social satire of the series while inspiring the viewers with Mussadi Lal’s attitude of refusing to give in to the system!

A thorough entertaining comedy, ‘Chala Mussaddi Office Office’ has a special significance with corruption making headlines in the newspaper everyday!

After a successful run at the box office “Chala Mussaddi Office Office” makes its World Television Premiere on Sahara One with a special dual screening on Sunday, November 13 at 12.30 pm and 8.30 pm.
