Kanpur- If it’s the 14th of January its Makar Sankranti, the popular harvest
festival celebrated in almost all parts of the country in myriad cultural
forms. Makar Sankranti festival holds special significance
according to the solar calendar as the day and night is of exactly equal
duration on this day. Hindus celebrate the festival with great
devotion, fervor & gaiety and signifies knowledge, spiritual light and
wisdom. In Uttar Pradesh, Makar Sankranti is known as
"Khicheri.". Devotees take a dip in the holy waters of Ganga, Jamuna
and Saraswati at Prayagraj. This year BIG
MAGIC, the No 1 channel in the Hindi heartland, has organized a mela at the Japanese Garden, Motijheel, in Kanpur.
The grand mela wil see thousands of people throng to the gardens
to participate in Kite flying competition, one of the most popular events that
take place during Sankranti. Amidst
the colorful kite flying competition there were various food stalls to enjoy,
cookery and mehndi competition, for all those enthusiastic women, groups of folk
singers enthralling the audiences and more…
This Sankranti mela organized by BIG MAGIC & 92.7 BIG FM promises to
