Spectacular performances announced ahead of the Chevrolet Global Indian Music Awards
Music from across the country to converge onstage showcasing mélange of talent

Touted to be Indian Music’s biggest night out, the Chevrolet Global Indian Music Awards (GIMA) will have celebrity musicians take centre-stage to perform before a mélange of the industry’s biggest names at the Kingdom of Dreams in Gurgaon. In its second year, GIMA continues to honour artistic achievement, technical proficiency and overall excellence in Indian music.

With over 26 metals up for grabs in both the Film and Non-Film genres this year’s awards are bound to be the musical event of the year. The 2nd edition of the much-awaited Chevrolet GIMA Awards will showcase a number of performances, among which a fusion piece by Indian electronic prodigies, Midival Pundits will be staged. The duo will be joined onstage by Kashmiri pop-rock artiste Kailash Kher, the musically-diverse Shubha Mudgal and the young Assamese sensation, Papon. The act will create a holistic representation of Indian music in keeping with GIMA’s efforts to unify all the genres of music in the country.

Songstress, Sunidhi Chauhan will enthrall with a performance of her popular songs ‘Te Amo’, ‘Udi-Udi’, ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’ and ‘Ainyavi-Ainyavi’ moving into a grunge rock performance backed by a classic rock band.

President & Managing Director, General Motors India, Karl Slym spoke of the performances saying, “With a firm belief in innovation and the drive to pursue excellence, Chevrolet is proud to be associated with an event like GIMA that echoes the very principles that have made Chevrolet the brand it is today. While the talent in Indian musicians leaves nothing to be desired, there remained only the need for a medium through which it could be showcased to the world. Speaking on the phenomenal line-up of performances for this year’s Chevrolet GIMA Awards, Sabbas Joseph, Director – Wizcraft International said, “The performances at Chevrolet GIMA 2011 will showcase a multi-faceted portrayal of the music across India today.
