Over 100 Indian musicians converge for
the Chevrolet GIMA Awards 2011 Voting Meet



The Global Indian Music Academy (GIMA) kicked off the voting process today to adjudge the winners of the Chevrolet GIMA Awards 2011 to be held on the 22nd of September at the Kingdom of Dreams. In its second year, GIMA continues to honour artistic achievement, technical proficiency and overall excellence in Indian music.

GIMA is based on a peer-voting system wherein the first ever established Academy of over 280 members ranging from Industry stalwarts, music directors, producers, technicians, composers and leaders in the music business, come together to cast votes for nominees across the Chevrolet GIMA Awards categories deciding the final winners.

GIMA’s Goodwill Ambassador, Asha Bhosle officially opened voting by casting the first symbolic vote. Speaking on her role as Goodwill Ambassador, the nightingale, Asha Bhosle said, GIMA provides a unified platform for musicians across the country, giving equal prominence to film and non-film music making for a holistic Awards presentation. I am pleased to align with the Global Indian Music Academy as the Goodwill Ambassador.”

Key members of the GIMA Advisory Board, Jury and Academy also attended the conference to show their support including, Pyarelalji, Dr. L Subramaniam, Alka Yagnik, Shankar Mahadevan, Jagjit Singh, Bhushan Kumar, Pankaj Udhas and Vijay Lazarus, among several others. The 2nd edition of the Chevrolet GIMA Awards will be presented at an exclusive ceremony on the 22nd of September, 2011 at the Kingdom of Dreams in Gurgaon, India’s no.1 entertainment destination and home to the first ever Bollywood musical, ‘Zangoora’.
