2nd Chevrolet Global Indian Music Awards, a spectacular success
Fantastic performances by Shahrukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Sunidhi Chauhan, Shaan, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Sonu Nigam & Pyarelal, among others
Delhi : The 2nd Chevrolet Global Indian Music Awards (GIMA) powered by Lava Music Phones took place today in the presence of the crème de la crème of the music and film fraternity, in a splendid ceremony at the Kingdom of Dreams, Gurgaon.
The ceremony, hosted by Ranveer Singh & Neha Dhupia featured stellar performances by celebrated musicians and Bollywood stars including Midival Punditz with Shubha Mudgal, Papon and Kailash Kher, Sunidhi Chauhan, Shaan, Sonu Nigam and Pyarelalji, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy with the Shillong Choir, Priyanka Chopra and the King Khan – Shahrukh Khan.
A total of 31 awards under the Film and Non-Film categories were presented at this breathtaking awards ceremony. Dabangg picked up nods for Best Music Director (Sajid-Wajid & Lalit Pandit), Best Film Album, Best Music Debut for Mamta Sharma (Munni Badnaam Hui) and Best Engineer Film (Eric Pillai). The film also received Best Engineer – Theatre Mix (Leslie Fernandes), Best Background Score (Sandeep Shirodkar) and the Red FM Most Popular Song on Radio (Tere Mast Mast).
On picking up the seven wins for his debut film Dabangg, Arbaaz Khan said, “It’s been a fantastic journey and the music has played the most important contribution to the success of Dabangg. Sajid-Wajid have been fantastic along with Lalit Pandit and the rest of the team.”
A new category addition to the 2nd Chevrolet GIMA Awards powered by Lava Music Phones is the Chevrolet GIMA for MTV Pop-Rock Single. Agnee took home the award in the category, while Ustad Rashid Khan won the Best Devotional Album award.
Having performed a unique medley to the live-singing of the music industry’s top female singers (Kavita Krishnamurthy, Rekha Bhardwaj, Usha Uthup & Sunidhi Chauhan), Priyanka Chopra said, “A hundred years from now, I will not be here but your voices and your music will live on. Thank you for giving us actors, an opportunity to look this good. But today, most definitely you are the stars and not us.”

A special award honoring Outstanding Contribution to Indian Music – Flim went to legendary Indian composer, Pyarelal while carnatic vocalist M. Balamuralikrishna won the Outstanding Contribution to Indian Music – Classical. The Global Musician Honour was bestowed upon A. R. Rahman, a member of the internationally renowned band, Super Heavy alongside Mick Jagger.
The Chevrolet Global Indian Music Awards, in its 2nd edition is supported by IMI, T-Series, MCAI, SAI and other key constituents of the music world from all corners of the country. A noble endeavour to consolidate musical talent in the country, the Awards is an initiative of Wizcraft International Entertainment, India’s leading media and Entertainment Company. The Wizcraft Honor for Best LIVE Performers went to Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. The trio recently celebrated 15 years of their musical partnership and performed at the Awards to the songs that marked the milestones of their success.
