Wockhardt Foundation and GAIL have begun the rollout of their joint healthcare initiative Vision 1000, in Madhya Pradesh. The flag-off ceremony took place in Jhabua & Khera districts of Madhya Pradesh. The Wockhardt Foundation - GAIL partnership is part of Wockhardt Foundation’s plans to expand the Vision 1000 programme on a pan-India basis. GAIL has its major installations in Madhya Pradesh and thus, this partnership is strategic to the company’s overall corporate goals.

The two partners jointly launched the Vision 1000 healthcare programme from the Jhabua & Khera districts of Madhya Pradesh where it will treat poor patients on a daily basis. Wockhardt Foundation & GAIL will cover 100 villages in MP through this roll-out. The Wockhardt Foundation through its Vision 1000 aims to provide free primary healthcare at the doorstep of the poor families in rural and remote India through a pan-India network of mobile healthcare units.

The rollout of the programme in Madhya Pradesh commenced on October 4th, 2011. Through this mobile healthcare outreach programme in Madhya Pradesh, both the partners would help provide free primary healthcare aid to approximately 135,000 patients in Madhya Pradesh in a year.

Commenting on the partnership with GAIL, Dr. Huzaifa Khorakiwala, CEO & Inspiration, Wockhardt Foundation said,
“Our partnership with GAIL provides us a like-minded partner to aid in the expansion of Vision 1000. Through this strategic collaboration with GAIL, we are now rolling out Vision 1000 in Madhya Pradesh. Over the next one year we aim to further expand this programme across other States of the country.”

As part of its Vision 1000 expansion plan, over the next 5 years Wockhardt Foundation plans to have a network of 1000 mobile healthcare units spread across the length and breadth of the Indian sub-continent. The pan-India expansion will help Wockhardt Foundation reach-out to nearly 25 million poor people with free healthcare services across the country.
