In his presentation on Excon 2011, Mr Anand Sundaresan, Leader, Excon 2011 Taskforce on Road Shows & Managing Director, Schwing Stetter (India) Pvt Ltd said, “This is the sixth edition of the EXCON, the inaugural edition of which was held in 2000.  With each passing edition, the event has witnessed immense growth both in quality and in numbers. So, while this will be the largest event on all counts including the number of domestic and overseas visitors, exhibition area and new project launches, the biggest difference will be the presence of enhanced foreign players. There will be country pavilions including leading economies like China, Germany, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Spain, Turkey & Finland.”

Excon 2011 would also have a large presence of SMEs in the component and aggregate manufacturing, showcasing India’s potential as a preferred outsourcing destination for construction equipment manufacturing. With the participation of almost all leading players in the construction equipment industry, the exhibition would aim at facilitating faster and sustainable development of infrastructure and related sectors in India.   Some of the factors include;

  • To accelerate the road building capacity everyday
  • Speed up infrastructure development in an ecologically sustainable manner
  • Enhance rural connectivity & development for all inclusive growth
  • Position India as an outsourcing destination for component & aggregate manufacturing
  • Focus on urban renewal by improving the quality of life in fast growing Indian cities

In his theme presentation on EXCON, Mr Harshad Patel, Manager – Marketing, Schwing Stetter (India) Pvt Ltd said, “It is a known fact that the BRIC nations are at the forefront of development and growth in the global economy today.  The role Infrastructure can play in that growth story cannot be stressed enough, especially in India and this fact reflects in the projected investment in the infrastructure sector in the 12th plan period (2012-17), which is pegged at US$ 100 billion.    Given these facts, it is absolutely essential for the construction and construction equipment industry to work closely with all stakeholders including government agencies, and events like EXCON can go a long way in facilitating that.”  The Government of Karnataka is the Partner State for Excon 2011 and the Indian Earthmoving & Construction Industry Association is the Sector Partner.  The event is supported by the Builders Association of India.

From live demonstrations of equipment for earthmoving & construction, lifting, material handling, concrete making, hydraulics, pneumatics and drills, to a display of power tools & piling, electronics, controls & instrumentation, compactors, and compressors & generators, Excon 2011 promises to give close to 35000 visitors from different parts of India, a great business opportunity.   Apart from the participation of major equipment renting companies, and leasing and finance companies that offer on the spot loans, visitors can benefit by benchmarking product features of different makes, interacting about their requirements with technical heads, and negotiating deals with chief executives. The event also acts as a forum to position India as an outsourcing destination for components, aggregates and equipment.
IECIAL, an affiliate body of the CII, will host a 2-day Conference on ‘ECE Industry – Vision 2020 and Beyond’ coinciding with Excon 2011 on 24 & 25 November 2011.  The conference would focus on areas such as; Future growth in ECE industry – Vision 2025; Viable financing model for the equipment & projects; Leading & renting of equipment; Inclusive growth in construction industry and Supply chain management.
