Swaraj Tractors touch the 8,00,000 sales mark


Mumbai, May 9, 2011: The Swaraj Division of Mahindra & Mahindra’s Farm Equipment Sector - a part of the U.S. $11.1 billion Mahindra Group - has touched the 8,00,000 mark in tractor sales.

Speaking on the achievement, Mr. Bishwambhar Mishra, Chief Executive, Tractor & Mechanization, Farm Equipment Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said, “It is a matter of great pride for us to have achieved this milestone. The Swaraj brand is committed to providing its customers with the best products and services in keeping with their requirements. The fact that we have touched the 800,000 mark in sales is a clear validation of this focus.”

Total tractor sales (domestic + exports) for Swaraj in FY11 stood at 60997 units, as against 49422 units for F10, an increase of 23.4%.

The Swaraj brand enjoys strong brand equity in the industry with a market share of 12.4% (figures for the fiscal year FY11). The brand is known for producing tractors that are powerful and reliable and its product portfolio offers tractors ranging from 25 HP to 70 HP.  Swaraj also has a wide network consisting of over 600 dealerships across the country.

Swaraj tractors are exported to various countries including Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Nigeria, Ghana, Gambia, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Tanzania and the USA.
